The muscle relaxant Flexeril is for the treatment of muscular spasms, which cause pain and tenderness as well as reduced range of motion. |

Flexeril Uses:
Flexeril is for those who have muscle pain and stiffness that are caused by a sprain, strain, or pull. When used in combination with physical therapy and rest, this medication can ease pain and stiffness.
Flexeril Directions:
Take Flexeril exactly as your doctor directs. It can be taken either with or without food, but should not be used for more than three weeks at a time. You may have a dry mouth while taking this drug, but you can suck ice chips or hard candy, or chew gum to get some relief.
Flexeril Side Effects:
Some who take Flexeril have side effects, although you can?t predict which ones may hit you. Common side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, or dry mouth. Other side effects are less common and include abnormal sensations, abnormal thoughts or dreams, difficulty speaking, aggressive behavior, agitation, anxiety, tingling in hands or feet, double vision, bloated feeling, blurred vision, confusion, rash, constipation, convulsions, decreased appetite, depressed mood, hepatitis, abnormal heartbeats, difficulty falling or staying asleep, disorientation, excitement, fainting, fatigue, fluid retention, hallucinations, headache, heartburn, hives, increased heart rate, inflammation of the stomach, lack of coordination, liver diseases, low blood pressure, nausea, nervousness, palpitations, paranoia, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, severe allergic reaction, indigestion, stomach and intestinal pain, sweating, swelling of the tongue or face, thirst, tremors, urinating more or less than usual, vertigo, vomiting, weakness, yellow eyes and skin. Confusion or hallucinations sometimes happens among older adults.
Flexeril Warnings:
Flexeril should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. It?s also not recommended for women who are breast feeding. The medication may be passed in breast milk, although it?s not known for sure. It is known that Flexeril is related to tricyclic antidepressants that are passed in breast milk. If you want to take to Flexeril, your doctor may recommend that you stop breast feeding.
Flexeril Drug Interactions:
Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking Flexeril. Serious, potentially fatal reactions may occur if you take Flexeril with an antidepressant drug known as an MAO inhibitor (such as Nardil, Parnate) or if it has been less than 2 weeks since you last took an MAO inhibitor. You should closely follow your doctor's advice regarding discontinuation of MAO inhibitors before taking Flexeril. If Flexeril is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Flexeril with the following: Barbiturates such as phenobarbital Guanethidine and other high blood pressure drugs that slow the central nervous system, such as Halcion and Xanax Tramadol (Ultram).
Flexeril Missed Dose:
If you forget to take your Flexeril when scheduled, don?t take a double dose to catch up. Instead, you should just skip that dose and continue on with the regular dosing schedule the next morning.
Flexeril Storage:
Store Flexeril away from sunlight or moisture. This medication needs to remain at room temperature.

Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Flexeril is used to relieve pain, tenderness, and limitation of motion caused by muscle spasms. It is used, along with rest and physical therapy, for short-term treatment (i.e., 2 to 3 weeks).
