Celexa is intended to treat depression. It balances naturally occurring chemicals in the brain.

Celexa Uses:
Taking Celexa will help relieve depression. It does this by adjusting the balance of natural chemicals in the brain.

Celexa Directions:
Celexa is taken by mouth once per day. You can take it either with or without food, or according to your doctor?s instructions. Personalized doses are based on medical conditions and your own response to therapy. Feeling better is not a reason to stop taking your prescription. Talk to your doctor before you stop taking.

Celexa Side Effects:
People who take Celexa report minor side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach, trouble sleeping, or dry mouth. Talk to your doctor if these symptoms are continual or bother you. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, talk to your doctor immediately: unusual or severe mental/mood changes, unusual fatigue, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased sweating/flushing, or uncontrolled movements (tremor). Serious side effects are unlikely but may include joint pain, fever, muscle pain, blurred vision, unusually fast heartbeat, decreased interest in sex, stomach pain, changes in sexual ability, weight changes, taste changes, changes in menstrual period, change in amount of urine, unusual swelling of the hands/feet/face, seizures, painful and/or prolonged erection. If you have any side effects not listed here, talk to your doctor.

Celexa Warnings:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver problems, kidney problems, seizures, heart problems, other mental/mood disorders (e.g., bipolar disorder), thyroid problems, any allergies. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using this product in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Celexa Drug Interactions:
Celexa users may have serious and even potentially fatal interactions when they take MAO inhibitors such as furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine within two weeks of Celexa. Get more details from your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions. Do not take Celexa with weight loss drugs such as sibutramine or phentermine. It?s important that your doctor know about all prescription and non prescription medications you take, including itraconazole, tramadol, nefazodone, other SSRI antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline), venlafaxine, lithium, cimetidine, "triptan" migraine drugs (e.g., sumatriptan, zolmitriptan), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, nortriptyline), trazodone, macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), or any herbal/ natural products (e.g., melatonin, St John's Wort, ayahuasca). Your doctor also know whether you are taking anything which cause drowsiness, such as medicine for sleep, anti- anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), sedatives, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine), tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), or certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). You should not stop or start taking any medications without your doctor?s approval.

Celexa Missed Dose:
If you forget a Celexa dose, take it as soon as you remember, then return to your normal schedule the next day. Be careful not to double dose on this medication.

Celexa Storage:
Always store Celexa in a cool dry location. It should never be stored within reach of children.

The prescription Celexa works like all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It adjusts brain chemicals that cause depression when out of balance.
